Sandi

My name is Sandi, and I am a Criminal Intelligence Analyst for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit.  I started running 15 years ago to work off the weight I earned as a third shift Records Technician for the Columbus Police Department.  At the time I was only doing virtual races because I knew if paid money for a race that I would go out and earn it.  However, I talked myself into signing up for a “in person” half marathon and knew I couldn’t do it alone.  That’s when I “ran” into a running club called “MIT” and was able to train with them for my first 5 half marathons.  After two seasons with that group I was asked to step up as a Pace Coach and during my first marathon I fell in love with pacing races.  Now 14 years later I have ran 193 (more coming) half marathons, 2 marathons and 1 ultra marathon.  That doesn’t include the hundreds of 5K, 4 milers, 10K, 15K, trail races, etc. I absolutely love everything that running has brought into my life.  However, it’s not just the health benefits but the friendships that I have forged through the miles of grit and determination.  I always say that I didn’t find running but through running I found myself.

Dustin

Hi! I’m Dustin. I’m a Columbus Police Dispatcher for the last five years and is one of the heroes behind the scenes, relaying critical information to officers in high-stress situations where clear communication can be lifesaving.

I have a 10-year-old son, Jaxson, and a 2 year old German shepherd.

My favorite food is strawberry cheesecake. Some of my hobbies include running 5Ks and half-marathons, as well as being involved in Royal Rangers with his son at their church.

If you need help with anything within the group/or a random running buddy feel free to reach out.

Davey

Hi, I’m Davey. I retired for CPD K9 in July 2024 after 31 years. My partner, Ayko also retired with me. Ayko will turn 12 on December 20th. I like to hunt and I’ve gotten into rucking and more running since retiring. My favorite color would be blue and my favorite number is 11. Pizza is my favorite food and since retiring, I have really expanded my taste for different pizza places around the Columbus area. I have two (2) boys ages 22 and 27 and one works at the City Prosecutor’s office and the other in a Fireman/Paramedic. I’m still involved with Special Olympics Ohio and have been for about 30 years. I coordinate the Final Leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run where Law Enforcement from all over Ohio meet at OSP Academy and run over to Jesse Owens Track and Field for the start of the Special Olympics Summer Games. I’m still involved with the Starfish Assignment helping those in need and helping to bridge the gap between Law Enforcement and the Community.

Rachel

I’m Rachel — an Ohio State grad with a Master’s in Marketing & Communications from Franklin University, and a Columbus Police officer since 2013. I’m a long‑distance runner at heart, a wife, and a mom of two. I got back into running last year (2025) as a way to spend more time with my two youngest sisters. I love exploring different race formats, pushing myself on long runs, and being part of a community that shows up for each other.
